Wonderia v0.5.9.2170 — Auto-save & QoL

Released: July 28, 2026 (Steam app 2593340). v0.5.9.2170 adds the quality-of-life feature many hosts asked for after launch week: periodic auto-save, so a crash or disconnect no longer wipes a long session that never hit a “key moment.”

Timeline on the updates hub. Pair with world rules (2196 backpack toggle) and multiplayer troubleshooting.

Why auto-save mattered

Before 2170, Wonderia mainly saved at key moments:

  • Sleeping until the next day
  • Teleporting
  • Player death
  • Entering or leaving fade-to-black areas (temples, NPC rooms)
  • Normal game exits (if the save finishes)

In multiplayer, the host owns world data. If the host never triggers those moments for a long stretch, a crash or disconnect can roll back a huge amount of progress.

How auto-save works

Auto-save sits on top of the existing key-moment system. In Game Settings you can set an interval from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, or choose Key Events Only to keep the old behavior.

Tips:

  • Shorter intervals protect long craft/farm nights; longer intervals reduce hitch risk on slower PCs.
  • Hosts should confirm auto-save is on before eight-player build evenings.
  • Still exit cleanly when you can—force-close remains a bad habit (see 2135 save notes).

Other improvements in 2170

  • Controller: fixed selecting items on the second page of the right-side scroll list in the Learn Talents panel (controller guide).
  • Repair UI stays open after a successful repair so you can fix multiple pieces without reopening.
  • Cave Watcher Clue quest: extra explanation and hint dialogue for the hard-to-find second observer.

What to do after updating

  1. Steam → Wonderia → verify v0.5.9.2170 or newer (current latest is 2201+).
  2. Open Game Settings → set auto-save interval (or leave Key Events Only if you prefer).
  3. Hosts: announce the chosen interval in chat before long sessions.
  4. Pad players: retest Learn Talents paging.
  5. Cave quest runners: re-read Cave Watcher Clue dialogue for new hints.

2170 is the “don’t lose three hours to a host crash” patch—turn auto-save on before your next long night.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Wonderia questions.

What changed in Wonderia v0.5.9.2170?

Configurable auto-save (30 seconds to 30 minutes, or Key Events Only), Learn Talents controller paging fix, repair UI stays open after success, and extra Cave Watcher Clue hints for the second observer.

How do I enable auto-save in Wonderia?

Open Game Settings and set the auto-save interval between 30 seconds and 30 minutes. Choose Key Events Only to keep the pre-2170 save behavior.

Does auto-save work in multiplayer?

Yes. The host still owns world saves. Auto-save periodically writes on top of key-moment saves so long host sessions are safer.

Should I use a 30-second auto-save interval?

Only if your PC handles it. Many players prefer 2–5 minutes for balance between safety and hitch risk. Test once and stick with what feels smooth.

What patch came after 2170?

v0.5.10.2180 (black cloud and quest text), then 2187, 2196 (World Rules), and 2201. See the updates hub for the full timeline.
